STRONG Conversations: Summer 2023 Edition

How did those of us in the northern hemisphere find ourselves in summer already? It’s hard to believe, but somehow we’re here! Speaking of summer, it was such a thrill to see so many of you curious product people at the Product at Heart conference this June. Definitely a new favorite "summertime" ritual!

But the purpose of this blog post is not to remark on the seasons or the passage of time, but to share that I’ve been continuing to have thought-provoking and engaging conversations (which I hope you’ll agree is the case!) on various podcasts and speaking engagements.

Here’s an overview of my latest appearances.

  • Product with Panash: Looking for even more CoP content? In this interview with Axel Sooriah, I share the benefits of creating a product CoP (including how such communities can help product people experience mastery, share best practices, and support onboarding). We also discuss the importance of psychological safety and vulnerability among product leads.

  • ProducTea with Leah Tharin: I enjoyed chatting with Leah Tharin about why being in a product role is more exciting than ever. If you’re wondering why, be sure to tune in!

  • Femme Lead Podcast: This episode is a slight departure from my usual topics—it was a pleasure to join the Femme Lead podcast for an episode to discuss my own professional development journey for a bit… and then of course share some advice for product leaders who are striving to excel at building products that people love.

  • Hands on Agile Berlin Meetup: Hands on Agile Berlin host Stefan Wolpers and I spoke in depth about product communities of practice (CoP), including the most noteworthy results from my survey of over 100 participants and leaders and my advice for anyone who’s thinking of launching a new CoP.

  • ProductTank Perth: I spoke with the ProducTank Perth community on the topic of storytelling, including the evolutionary advantage of telling good stories, why everyone has the power to tell good stories (even if you don’t think you do), and some tips and frameworks to help you improve your storytelling abilities.
