STRONG Conversations: Summer 2024 Edition

I recently realized that it’s been a year since I last shared an update of my recent appearances on podcasts and other speaking engagements. It seems like it’s about time to change that!

Here’s an overview of what I’ve been up to lately:

  • Scandinavian Product Podcast: In this episode, I joined Afonso Malo Franco to discuss key aspects of product leadership. We covered common struggles, time management, and tailoring frameworks for specific contexts. We also explored developing strong product people, the benefits of coaching, and essential tools for growth. If you're new to product leadership or looking to enhance your people development and coaching skills, this episode is a must-listen!

  • John Cutler’s The Beautiful Mess Podcast: John dove right into our conversation by asking me a fascinating question: When is coaching NOT a good idea? We also discussed how to foster a sense of community and culture of learning as well as how to develop self-awareness.

  • 🎥 Sneak Peek: I have an exciting new project I’ve been working on with Teresa Torres. We’re not quite ready to share it with the world yet, but you can get a little teaser from this link.

  • The ITX Product Momentum Podcast: Back in December 2023, I participated in episode 125 of the ITX podcast to discuss one of my favorite topics: product management Communities of Practice. We also explored topics like the moral and ethical concerns around AI and the profitability and sustainability of digital business models. You can also read a blog post recap of this conversation here.

  • One Knight in Product: Jason Knight hosted me on episode 191 of his podcast, where we discussed my tips and tricks for making your product teams stronger through building Communities of Practice.

  • Product.Live Podcast: Omar Sallam interviewed me for his podcast, where we discussed fixing shipyards vs. ships, how to prepare for your first leadership role, things to consider when building and scaling a product organization, and establishing cross-functional working frameworks between product and all other functional partners.

  • 🎥 La Product Conf Fireside Chat: Fabrice des Mazery, CPO at TheFork hosted this fireside chat at La Product Conf in Paris where we tried to look graceful while sitting on barstools and discussed common challenges like sharing topics within a community and how to improve your product skills.

  • 🎥INDUSTRY Dublin: Most product people know that storytelling and product evangelizing skills are essential in their roles. But many PMs struggle to build that muscle, especially if their inner critic is telling them that they are not a great storyteller. I spoke about the evolutionary advantage of telling good stories and why everybody has the power and ability to create them. Note that you'll need to register on the site in order to watch the video.
